Spain had a chokehold on the supply and distribution of tobacco for decades. The Spanish people are also well documented users of stuff. However, curiously, there are very few legitimate and authenticated examples of Spanish snuff boxes known to exist. Surely there are more waiting to be found; but as it stands either very few were created or the survival rate is extremely poor.
The Spanish snuff boxes that have survived almost always date back to around 1750. If your snuff box has jewels, chase work, enameling, or really any ostentatious decoration, then it is not Spanish.
